Recommended Time Intervals for Lincoln Maintenance
Recommended Time Intervals for Lincoln Maintenance
What’s the Big Deal About Regular Lincoln Service?
Auto maintenance is a lot like an individual’s workout routine. If the objective with your physical fitness is to either improve or maintain it, you must work at it regularly. Unfortunately, one spin class just doesn’t cut it.
The same idea applies to your vehicle. In order to keep your Lincoln running like new and staying strong, it needs to undergo regular Lincoln maintenance. But, if you’re like many drivers, you may not know how often that should take place and/or exactly what should take place at these service appointments.
In these next few sections, we’ll not only recommend time intervals, by way of mileage, but also note what services should be included. We then hope you’ll consider the Spitzer Lincoln DuBois for all your service and repair needs.
15,000- and 30,000-Mile Lincoln Maintenance
As the first of four key service appointments (15,000, 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 miles), the 15,000-mile check-up is hopefully little more than a check-up and light maintenance.
Even though your Lincoln’s oil should be changed about every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, the 15,000-mile check-up may coincide with the need for an oil change.
Other things to have tended to for the 15,000-mile check-up include oil and air filter conditions, all fluid levels and tire condition. It’s a good idea to routinely rotate your Lincoln’s tires to help maximize their lifespan.
At the 30,000-mile mark, everything from the 15,000-mile check-up should be repeated. In addition, this would be a good time to also have the spark plugs, shocks, suspension and fuel filter checked.
60,000- and 90,000-Mile Lincoln Maintenance
In addition to the features checked at 30,000 miles, when you hit 60,000 miles, you’ll need to include more to be checked thoroughly. By this point, a big focus needs to be on your Lincoln vehicle’s brake system, including the condition of things like brake pads, brake rotors, brake lines and brake fluids. It may sound like a lot, but remember, a brake inspection or brake pad replacement is a lot cheaper than brake repair service.
This would also be a good time to check the condition of your Lincoln’s battery. Over time, corrosion and/or oxidation can adversely affect the quality of your battery. While you or your service tech is under the hood, checking fluid levels and the condition of hoses and belts is also a good idea.
The 90,000-mile service should include everything from the 60,000-mile check, plus a few other things. If power steering fluid hasn’t been checked in a while, give that a look. Also, check the functionality of all safety and driver-assist features. The condition of spark plugs by 90,000 miles is absolutely something to check out.
